Ataru is a graphic novel in which Ataru, a daydreamer and carefree artist, is passed on the Wheel of Fortune. A rare medallion which grants him his dream life in The Promised Land – a place everyone dreams of living in, including Ataru.

So he backs his belongings and ventures out from his hometown into his new life. In hopes to find happiness, love, fame and wealth.

On his journey he is being guided by Spirit, and protected by mighty samurai named Shinji – whom Ataru madly falls in love with. Unfortunately, the samurai's true identity is far from a noble warrior.

Furthermore, nations in Japan are at war, which significantly hinder their journey.
Will Ataru make it to the Promised Land? And what kind of sacrifices have to be made?
